Shooting is one of the safest of all pastimes because it has to be. Target shooting can only take place on ranges that have been constructed to specifications laid down by the MOD, and which are regularly inspected for compliance. In addition, Club officials must hold officially recognised Range Conducting Officer qualifications if the Club is to shoot on MOD ranges. All shooting is strictly controlled to enforce the highest safety standards. The very reason that we are a club is to provide safe ranges and safe shooting practices.

It is not legal for people to have a go at rifle shooting in the UK, unless on a specifically organised guest day. This is not something we currently offer. In order to shoot with Reeds Target Shooting Club, you must join us as a probationary member. Visit our Contact Us page to apply.

It is not legal to offer any shooting experiences or gift packages where it is concerned with firearms. The only type of legal gift shooting packages that can be offered in the UK are clay shooting related, and this is not something that we offer.

To join Reeds Target Shooting Club the law requires that you undertake a compulsory probation period. To apply for full membership of Reeds we require that you attend as a probationary member for a minimum of six months. During this time, you must attend club meetings regularly, and be supervised whilst shooting by a full member of the Club. Once you have completed your probation successfully, then you can apply for full membership. To apply for membership, please visit the Contact Us page.

Probationary membership can be reduced to three months for prospective members who already possess a firearms certificate varied for target shooting, with a reference from their existing club. This is at the discretion of the committee.

If your rifle is varied for target shooting yes, but you will have to join as a probationary member. If it is for vermin or pest control then no, you will need to get a variation for target shooting first.

Reeds Target Shooting Club actively recruits new members: the only people who we cannot allow to join us are ‘prohibited persons’, who are people that have served a custodial sentence for certain serious crimes, and are banned from possessing or handling firearms. All prospective members or persons wishing to join are required to sign a statement declaring that they are not a prohibited person and take up probationary membership.

In short, a prohibited person is a person who has been imprisoned for a sentence of 3 or more years. Persons who are sentenced to a term of imprisonment, or given a suspended sentence for 3 months or more but less than 3 years must not possess firearms until five years have passed since the date of release (or from the second date after the sentence is passed where it is suspended).

No, we are solely a target shooting club.

We do not apply a lower age limit for children, but to be realistic, a child has to be physically big enough to hold the gun properly before we can allow them to shoot it.

Age is no legal barrier to taking up shooting, although to possess one’s own firearms or shotguns there are certain restrictions.

In addition, there are certain age restrictions in place when shooting at Bisley ranges.

Parents or guardians must accompany minors at all times when attending the range.

The range will be open to full members on Monday and Thursday evenings, and probationary members on Thursday evenings.

Session range fees are currently £7.50 per person at our Lordswood venue, and £16.50 per day (£8.50 per half day) at Bisley ranges. Clay shooting currently costs £15 for 50 clays. You will also need to purchase ammunition, which ranges from £10 a tin of 500 airgun pellets, to around £1 a round for .308 ammunition! A box of 50 rounds of .22 ammunition is around £7, while shotgun cartridges are around £13 for 50.

We strongly recommend that you purchase you own ear defenders.

When you take up full membership you will no longer have to pay range fees (apart from at the Clay shooing venue, as this is a commercial site) - so the more you attend, the more value you get from your membership!
